In the same breath
a thousand sighs
became the wind
and blew south
along the ridge at eventide
or dusk more like,
picking up speed
it captured uncle bobs hat
in its grip
and off it sailed
looking for a puddle
to wallow in
which it did find
subsequently.
Oh such a fury
did that small
windward gesture
make,
the red on my uncles face
gave me a fright,
the memory of which
I have kept till now
and might have even whence
I will be facing the death.
In meantimes I keep my council,
cards close to vest
and that will be
the most anyone can say
about my paltry residence
on this rock
spun round the sun.
